On behalf of the entire Jog For Hope organizing committee,

Thank YOU for your participation!

Without you guys, all of these would not have happened! :)

Everything went smoothly, and everybody worked so hard to get it all working fine. I guess in the end, it was all worth it. I personally felt really relieved yet felt that sense of achievement, having pulled off something this good. The people I’ve met and the way to deal with sponsors (inside joke) was really enlightening. Benefited all of us in one way or the other, and we managed to raise the money for the home! That’s our best achievement, really!

So, once again,

Thank YOU for your participation!

Anyways, many people have been asking for pictures, and what I have are only personal pictures. I will post up the pictures later, when I get the pictures from the Photographers of the Editorial Board. For now, please enjoy my personal pictures, of the stage-by-stage process on the way to making the charity run a huge success!

Creating the Backdrop.

Mr Rahul came up to me, Lily and Yean Ling, and we were to create a backdrop for the prize giving area. I didn’t have any ideas at first, but Lily had some interesting ideas. She came up with the ideas and Ruby suggested even better ones. We started from Friday 4PM and started again on Saturday 9.30AM. Finished it at 5PM! We even had our lil’ own ceremony, where we asked the entire committee to come and watch the switching on of the lights at the back!

Boy, it sure felt great when it turned out so nice! :)

Hope you guys enjoyed yourself. More updates to come, please check back once in a while!

cheers,
Arthur Chia.

What do I do?!

*Updated Timetable*

If that’s what you’re thinking, please read on! :)

For the majority of the people who have signed up, this appears to be your very first jogathon/ running thingy! Therefore, you’re here today, reading this very post, as to update yourself and finally start doing something for this coming Sunday.

Before 19th July

1) Train for the event! For most of you, it’ll be the 6KM run, and let me assure you, SIX KM is NOT a short distance. Do not EVER underestimate the route! As most of you know, the area around Sri Hartamas is very hillside-ish and thus have a lot of uphills and downhills. That means, you needa train hard before you come on Sunday!

2) Check out the route! I mean, you don’t wanna get lost, do you? The map has been recently updated with markings of checkpoints and first aid stations.
First aid stations also double as a water station.
Checkpoints are where you collect an item as proof that you had went through the checkpoint, so please remember to collect the item, if not, even if you end up being the first, you will not be awarded with the prize. The main water stations are placed with the checkpoints.

19th July 2009

1) First thing you should do, is find a parking spot. Hartamas Shopping Complex has offered to open their carpark for the participants of Jog For Hope to park at 6 o’clock in the morning! Regular parking fees still apply, but since it’s a Sunday, it’s RM1 for the whole day! :)
However, the roads are going to be blocked from 8.00 AM onwards to ensure the runners are safe and sound within the area concerned. So please be punctual!

2) Registration starts from 6.00 onwards! Remember to bring your RECEIPT and your IC/ Passport to collect your T-shirt and your numberings.
T-shirts are only available while stocks last. This is because the number of T-shirts printed is an estimation of the total number of registrations collected by the dateline of the registration, 15th of July 2009. An additional 100 is being printed for participants registering on that day itself.
Let me remind you, the T-shirts are gorgeous! :P

3) If you have any valuables you want to store, please head over to the bag keeping area within the college compound. *More information will be put up regarding this.*

4) A warm up session will be conducted by The Gym personnels in front of Hartamas Shopping Complex. Remember to do your own stretching before running as well! Anything that stretches your early morning tight muscles would help! :D

5) Flag off time! At 8.00 AM, the OPEN category will be flagged off first! After a short wait of 5 minutes, the other participants will then be flagged off! Run, run for your life, run for hope!

6) Jogging and jogging and jogging. Who would NOT be tired after so much of jogging, running and panting? Worry not! There are First Aid Stations placed every 1KM of the of the route. Make sure you drink lotsa water these few days, just to ensure your own safety.

7) Then, you can go collect your stuffs from the bag keeping area! *I promise! More information will be up!*

8) To reward yourself for running that long of a distance, head on over to the counters to collect your goodie bags! Remember to pass back your number tag to collect your goodie bag. As there are limited amount of goodie bags, it would be much appreciated if you would try not to cheat us and take more than your own. :D

9) Apart from the jogging, there are also booths being set up by our sponsors! L’affair, The Star, Eon Bank, Celebrity Fitness, MTO Global, NST, Sunrise, Nestle and a Florist (will be updated). Be sure to check out these wonderful people as they had sponsored us with mega lots of things! So be nice, and go ahead and visit those booths. :P

10) There is also an exhibition booth, set up by the SCASFT and the Tree Huggers to find out about what we do, what they do, and what all of us do. :D

And that, is the basic rundown of the what you should do before and during that day itself!

I do hope that you’ll check out the Timetable page for the sequence of events, so you won’t be at the wrong place at the wrong time! :D

Yours faithfully,
Arthur Chia,
Assistant Publicity Officer,
Jog For Hope.
